Gradac
Welcome to the most southern tourist locality of Split Dalmacia region and Makarska Riviera. Gradac is located in a distance of 40 km from wide know Makarska Riviera, and in the middle of two most significant destination of southern coast of Croatia, cities of Split and Dubrovnik. Nowadays this town represents an modern holiday resort in Croatia. The tradition in tourism and hospitality in the area of Gradac started since 1919, when the first hotel was opened.
The most important period in tourism developing where the years of 60 – ties when most of the hotels in Gradac where built,. These day to the guest who chose for they holiday Gradac, have at their disposal considerable accommodation facilities, in bigger hotels 1500 beds and in smaller Gradac , private accommodation around 1600 capacity offer of this small town is very rich especially comparing it to town size and guest capacity. Even that Gradac under this have for the first time has been mention in 1649, in the territory of today Gradac was settled and ex medieval town of Labinac or Lapcan, mentioned for the first time by the Byzantine emperor Constantine porphyry genitals in mid 10 th century.
Gradac was named after the stronghold which was situated on the elevation above the church of st. Michael, and which is thought to have been built between 1645 – 1669 during the Kendyan war.
