Durres
Albanian most famous resort and the biggest port. The metropolis of Albanian tourism, the most popular place during the summer. Durres was founded in 627 BC, and its name was Epidamos, by Greek colons. Before being taken by a powerful Romans in 228 BC the Epidamus was a port of Illyrian kingdom. In 228 BC the Romans renamed it in Dyrrachium .
During the civil war during the Julius Cesar ruling the Roman Empery in 48 year BC a war once again touched this city. During a long history of Durrës many of conquers tried to take this important port under their rule like Bulgarians, Byzantines, Argevins, Serbs, Venetians, Ottoman and even Germans, and especially German Prince Wilhelm of weld. Finally with the independency in 1918 Durres was all the time under the Albanians and the state of Albania.
