Hvar represent one of the most beautiful islands in whole seacoast of Croatia and the biggest one in Adriatic seacoast after Cres, with coastal length over 250 km. The island of Hvar is know by its great wine, sage, lavender and many sunny days. Hvar together with ULcinj in Montenegro represent two cities with the most sunny days in ex Yugoslavia.


The climate in Hvar is a characteristic Mediterranean with gentle and rainy winters and worm dry and sunny summers. Apart from beautiful nature and extraordinary beaches and resort, Hvar is especially well known by its large number of food and drink industry, made by fruits of the sea and the industry of aromatic plants, such as lavender and rosemary is very developed, which Croatia exported a lot together with its other representative products such us wine and honey to France and Hungary, especially between 1870 to 1894. Olives, olive oil and figs are also some among the many products Hvar is famous with.

Because of its location Hvar is also very rich with fish, which also helped in developing of this industry and economy of this city and island in general. Connection of island Hvar with land is very good, thanks to many ferry lines present in Hvar. The early signs of tourism as one of the oldest tourist places in Croatia reach far back into the Middle Ages, which is best seen by the remains of farm buildings and country houses all over Hvar's Agar (valley), used for guests of domicile citizens who came in Hvar on visit , work or escape in paradise and more developed area.
